What ONIBUS Stands For

“ONIBUS” means “public bus” in Portuguese. The name was inspired by the idea that, just like buses in Brazil connect people across its vast landscapes, coffee has the power to bring people together. We hope to create places where people naturally gather, connect, and begin their everyday journeys. Our goal is to build shops that make each neighborhood a more wonderful place simply by having ONIBUS there. Connecting everyone involved in coffee — the people who produce coffee beans, the people who serve coffee, and the people who enjoy it — to create a happier world. Bringing small moments of happiness into everyday life through a carefully crafted cup of coffee. Creating a comfortable experience where guests feel welcomed by thoughtful and friendly service and want to return again.   • Barista & Service

    The role of an ONIBUS barista is to consistently provide the highest quality coffee through excellent operational skills and genuine hospitality.
    To become an ONIBUS barista, candidates must complete and pass multiple stages of skill evaluations (cupping, pour-over coffee brewing, espresso calibration, and café latte preparation). We provide a supportive training environment, including practice sessions and seminars. Baristas are also involved in customer service and store operations, such as cashier duties and order taking. There are also opportunities to participate in store events and ONIBUS product planning.
    *Simple cooking and preparation tasks may be required depending on the store.

  • Pastry Chef

    The pastry team at ONIBUS is responsible for developing and creating desserts and baked goods with the goal of making “the most delicious desserts at the world’s best coffee shop.” At ONIBUS Jiyugaoka, we offer not only baked goods but also plated desserts (desserts served on a plate) in a café setting. Through our occasional plated dessert courses paired with alcoholic drinks and coffee, we create diverse and memorable dessert experiences. We value our relationships with producers and play an important role in sharing the dedication behind carefully grown seasonal ingredients through our desserts.

  • Kitchen Staff

    The kitchen team is mainly responsible for developing and preparing brunch menus at ONIBUS Jiyugaoka. The team creates delicious dishes by making the most of seasonal vegetables and ingredients sourced directly from our partner farmers and producers. From light meals that pair well with coffee to satisfying dishes, we develop a wide range of original menu items inspired by diverse culinary cultures. We also focus on “food diversity,” including vegan and gluten-free options, while working to reduce food waste.
    In addition, the kitchen team develops food menus served at other ONIBUS locations.

  • Production

    The production team is responsible for all manufacturing operations, including roasting, which plays a central role in maintaining ONIBUS’ coffee quality. Their responsibilities cover a wide range of areas related to coffee quality and sourcing, including green coffee management, quality control, continuous roasting improvements, visits to coffee-producing regions, and coffee purchasing.
    The production team also manages order processing and shipping from ONIBUS locations and partner cafés (wholesale clients), as well as the operation of the online shop, making their role diverse and essential to the business.
